Tertiary Wastewater Treatment Plant, Bendigo (Australia)

Project signboard

This project encompassed the design and construction of a tertiary treatment facility at the Bendigo Wastewater Treatment Plant in Epsom, Australia. The plant is owned by Coliban Water, the regional water authority. The purpose of this facility was to reduce the amount of phosphorus discharged into the creek. My role in this project was to manage the design and construction of the overall project. The plant was commissioned in 2003.

The design capacity of the plant is 25 Ml per day (25 million litres). The detailed design and construction of the plant was undertaken by a joint venture between Transfield and Montgomery Watson. The main parts of the treatment process are sand filters and a UV disinfection system.
